The Serengeti spans over 14,750 square kilometers, offering a vast landscape teeming with wildlife. It’s home to the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino, as well as cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles, and over 500 bird species. The park is most famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration, where over 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles cross the plains in a breathtaking, seasonal journey that includes dramatic river crossings and predator interactions.
December to March: Calving season in the southern Serengeti.
April to June: Migration moves north; fewer crowds and green landscapes.
July to October: Best for Mara River crossings in the northern Serengeti.
Year-round: Excellent game viewing and predator sightings.
